Cable modems and dsl gateways

I used to have service through Qwest (junk!) and i bought the “Qwest DSL Modem with Wireless Gateway, model GT701-WG. I bought the dsl modem, just to have one. Well, I switched providers and now have Mediacom, Which came with a Bable modem, no gateway. It is an Arris model TM502G. This is for my Desktop. I recently bought a Laptop, which has the wireless card already in it. i was wondering if there is anyway I could use the old dsl, with wireless gateway, as a wireless router, and use it with my cable modem?
