cabling

Hi,
I hope this question is not to ridiculous.
I have a few hubs connected to my network.
With approx. 150 clients.There are some areas in the company where the cat 5 cables are not longer in use but are still connected to the hub. Could this cause any type of slow down on the network…or cause any kind of other problems…. Thanks
