Can data be recovered – fdisk w/ error?

I had a major hard drive failure and the only backup set of my accounting pack has an error on the last disk of the set, it comes up with a “data error:cycle redundancy check” Is there any way of getting around this error?? Scandisk was no help. I would appreciate any thoughts on this.
