Can not open file from diskette!!!!

Recently, I try to open a file from diskette, it prompts me that the diskette is not formatted and ask me whether to format it or not? Actually what happened to the diskette, the diskette is supposing formatted already and get data inside?if anyone can help me to rectify this problem.
