I have an old generic Pentium 100Mhz with 64 Megs of ram, a 540 Meg HD and a 2 meg ATI PCI video card. These are the ONLY items in the PC. I have installed NT Workstation 4.0 which works just great. After it’s done installing, it indicates Serivce Pack 1 (which is what is on the install CD). So I applied SP6a and when it reboots, it still says SP1. After the Ctrl-Alt-Del log in, I get “an error has occured in SPOOLS.DLL” but Windows behaves normal after that, just no service pack updates have taken affect. So I formatted and reinstalled NT and tried SP5. Same results. Is there a problem using this old hardware with newer SPs? I even tried NT Server as an experiment and it did the same thing. I have not tried SP3. Thanks for any words of wisdom.
