Cannot save from WIn2000 to Novell

I have a Windows 2000 machine that connects to the Novell 5.0 server without problem, but once the file is open and edited the user can not resave to their directory on the server. Message reads that they do not have the permissions necessary. This procedure worked OK on all other (Win98) machines prior to this.

Does Win2000 Pro override Novell permissions and if so is it related to the Security Policies on Win2000?
