Cannot Save or Create File

In MS Word 97 SR-2 there seems to be a “undocumented feature” in that one cannot save directly to a network share drive. It will give a “Cannot Save or Create File” or access denied message and ask one to retry. When you retry it attempts to save asa ~Wxxx.tmp.doc on the share drive. It will save as that or if your rename from the ~ format it will also save. MS TechNet has a article (Q108918) but is of no help. I can consistantly create the error from Word 97 but does not seem to be an issue in Off2K.
