Can’t hibernate in XP – error message

by twuf . Updated 22 years, 3 months ago

I built new comp.w/ Intel 2.4ghz based mobo w/XP Home. Gigabyte GA-8SQ800 Ultra Mobo. Using Logitech iTouch wireless keyboard & mouse. When trying to put computer in hibernate or standby, error message comes up says something like “The device driver for Logitech Itouch Keyboard or some program is keeping your computer from hibernating” and then of course it won’t hibernate. I updated drivers for keyboard. didn’t help. I put old standard keyboard & mouse on with standard drivers, didn’t help. Yes, the computer bios is set with ACPI on etc. The power options are set to enable hibernation. If you go into keyboard in control panel (setup with itouch keyboard installed), there is no option tab for hibernation and it should have per logitech. I also did msconfig and shut off all startup programs and did task manager and shut off most all processes. Same error message. (oh, when i put on old standard keyboard the error message now said ‘The device driver for Standard Keyboard or some program is keeping…blah blah. Do you have any suggestions? I went to BIOS maker and note on BIOS upgrade did not include anything about power management fixes. My guess is to start uninstalling programs. What do you say?
