Can’t logon to NT 2000 server

by hayes1015 . Updated 25 years ago

I have a winNT 2000 server running Active Directory, DHCP, and DNS. My workstation is win98.

When I boot the workstation it prompts me to logon. I try to logon as Administrator and I get a message stating that there is no domain controller available to validate user name and password.

When I cancel through the logon screen I noticed that I am still assigned an IP number from the server. I can ping the servers IP number and DNS name…and from the server I can ping the workstation.

When I go into Active Directory Users and Computers it also tells me there is no domain controller available.

Can anyone tell me what I am doing wrong???
