can’t open excel attachment in outlook98

Can’t open excel attachment in Outlook98 When trying to open an excel97 attachment in Outlook 98 i recive the fallowing error- system cannot find the file specified. I have tried uninstalling&reinstalling both outlook and office. I can open word attachments just fine.I can open the excel file if i save it as a local file and open it through excel.
