Cant print after upgrading to W2KPro

Dell Laptop – inspiron 3500. one of those with an external floppy that hooks to the parallel port.

Before on Win98, has a Deskjet 600C connected and worked fine. Had some problems with the registry, so we wiped the drive clean, hooked up the floppy and installed Win2KPro. Everything works, but now after connecting back up the printer and removing the floppy, it won’t print, let alone see the printer. LPT1 is there and tests fine, and is enabled. Hook up the printer directly, and it can’t seeit. I can print to any network shared printers, but any directly connected printer – forget it.

any ideas???
