I can no longer view file details in Windows 98; not in My computer, not in Explorer, and not in Save As while surfing. I can however view details in Find and Microsoft Office. By details I mean file size, type, and date/time modified. This happened, perhaps coincidentally, after I installed an upgrade to WinAmp. Also, I have a lot of files, perhaps 40,000, on my computer. I’ve tried all sorts of stuff, including a reinstall of Windows 98, second edition, over my existing installation. Also, I disinstalled WinAmp. Also, I’ve tried playing around with folder options. I think I need a.) a tech support call, or b.) a complete hard drive reformat & reinstall. I’m really hoping to avoid the latter.
