cd burner

I have a 3.2ghz computer with 512 ddr ram. I am running windows millenium. I have a Yamaha 20\10\40 cdrw burner it came with nero 5.5 it was working just fine with my other cpu before i built this one and installed it in my new cpu. Now when I run the nero test instead of the bar graph going up when you run the test it goes way down. Did my burner just poop out? My other computer was no where as fast as this one.
