A friend recently purchased a Dell PC running XP. While I was over cleaning all the Dellware crap off of it, I ran into a snag. The CDs that I brought would not display in Windows Explorer. It autoplays the Image Download and does nothing to display the contents beyond that, just acts like I never clicked the drive letter. I checked to see if the window was hung, and it still showed processing I don’t think it was racking up CPU% like a hung app either. I tried another CD just to see if the one I had just burned had problems, which is possible. The same results with the other CD. I tried using to keep autoplay from running (couldn’t remember where the Regkey was to disable), and this did stop the Autoplay, but still did not display the contents on the 2nd CD. I tried the 1st CD with this method, and it just kept ‘reading’ like it was hung. I decided to try viewing the contents sans UI (DOS), and could view the contents with no problem on both CDs. I thought maybe Nero had added a format to it making it unreadable w/o Nero installed, so I installed it. Still no luck with using the UI to display the contents. This problem appears to only be with CDs at this point. I have set folder options to allow me to view all (including sys and ext) files. Any ideas? Thanks in advance.
