cd-rom

i had some comments on my pervious question but it still didnt help.
my problem is i have 2 cd roms and my computer detects the cd rom when it starts up but when i go to my computer it cant read it. one answered to me said connect one of them at a time but it still doesnt work, should i reinstall windows xp? like reformat it??
