I am a PC REPAIR student and after the great success of getting my friend’s computer to work after a VMM problem, I am now having cd rom drive problems. I replaced the old one she had and installed it with no problems. A programmer friend of hers unhooked it (it was on master drive on the 2nd IDE channel) because at the time there was a 2nd hard drive problem. (I later fixed this) The hard drive was hooked up as slave onthe 2nd IDE channel to the cable select CD ROM. I’ve removed it and tested it on my machine; it works fine. I replaced the cables. I checked the hard disk controllers in windows. BIOS does not read the cd rom drive at all. I’ve tried it as slave stand alone, master, cable select, and nothing works. Is there possibly a problem on the mother board? I’ve done all the “stupid” stuff also and nothing is working.
HELP!
