cd-rom icon will not change

When I insert a disc in my drive the icon in the MY COMPUTER window does not update. I will update if there is a disk in the drive when the system is booted up. I believe that auto play also fail to start because a disk ID is not updated.

Is there a registry entry that could cause this?
