Somehow all of my CD/RW drivers have disappeared from my XP Pro OS. The original list of drivers with XP included my CD/RW which is an ASUS CRW 4012a. All I can do with my burner now is to use it as an over-priced CD-ROM. Does anyone know exactlyhow I can get back the original CD/RW drivers that came with Windows XP Professional or the exact driver specific to my drive?
Please. No Generic answers. I have already tried reinstalling in device manager, and since the specific driver is notthere, it only loads the generic CD-ROM driver. (I have tried the registry hacks to get back the recording tab. Without the correct drivers, it won’t even see media after that hack.) I’m trying to avoid formatting the drive and reinstalling the OS only to have to call Microsoft to reactivate it in 3 days. Then reinstall everything else.
