CD-RW/DVD issue

Last night I tried to install a program on to my laptop off a CD and the CD failed to initialize. SO I tried a second and third CD, and they failed to initialize also. But then I put in CD that came with the laptop(CD with drivers etc on it) and that worked perfectly. Would this be a problem with the lense or the CD’s themselves????
