CD Writer software for Win 2000

I’ve got a HP CD-Writer Plus 8200 series that was on a NT machine. I put it in a Windows 2000 machine but the writer software that came with the unit won’t work. In fact it crashed my registry and I had to reload the operating system. Hewlett Packard wants to charge me to send me an updated CD but I won’t pay.

Is there a download site somewhere that will give me software to write to this thing?
