CD writing

I have win98 se and HP 8200 series CD-Writer and HP 650MB R/W Cd’s. I have data over 2.5 GB and I want to write it on these CD’s.

What is the proper way to write ?
If I want to take backup in continues form i.e. splitting throgh Cd’s what is thebest software for it ? Where I can find it ?

If I choose to backup by msbackup on my HD and then write it on CD’s will it work ?

Please help ?
