CDRW process applies read only attribute

Hi,
I have an Engineering house that uses cad. When they burn a file to take home and on the software Prassi and others) applies the read only attribute. They take the files home to work on them and can not save any changes. How can you burn a cd without it applying the read only atribute. I have installed several software programs and it seems to be the same with all. I have heard that this is a Windows problem while researching it but believe there must be a resolution.
