Changing logon screensaver

I recently tried to change the logon screensaver after your article on the same for windows xp. I have windows 2000. Does that make a difference?
Also the file I put in regedit for SCRNSAVE.EXE string value was webshots. Does it need the file extension webshots.scr ?
Thanks.
