First I would like to thank you for taking the time to view this question.
here is the specks.
Echange Server 2000 with latest critical and hotfixes, Service Packs. NO antivirus loading. On a Netwserver LC3 with a Netraid 1 card confiugured to Raid 5, with 3, 9 gig ultra scsi drives, all bios, on server, raid and drives have the latest and greatest. Does not matter if I have service packs installed or not, . When I first load the server I give it a private ip address of 192.168.0.1, if I change that ip to anything, When rebooting, and at the Windows loading screen I get disk i/o error laoding c:\winnt\system32\config\system and the same on system.alt I have created a backup of this entire folder and treid to repair with a disk, and through the repair console by renaming all files and coping the original files back to the directory , the files was before the ip change.
I have read the Microsoft articles on the registry size and this is not the problem. And I have ran a full HP and Micro 2000 and Troubleshooter on the system with no problems found with the drives. This only happens when I change the IP Scheme on the nic. Help?
