Circuit board swap didn’t work can see in bios, but can’t see in XP

Circuit board swap – didn’t work, can see in bios, but can’t see in XP

I tried a circuitboard swap, exact serial/pn and firmware – but when it boots, it keep trying to access the drive, with that up and down sound. Finally it is seen in the bios, but I get the error :
CAPABLE BUT COMMAND FAILED , hard disk failure press f1 to continue.

I have turned off the SMART monitoring but this didn’t work.
It is a Seagate 320 Barracuda ST320620AS

What would you suggest I do next? I tried using EasyRecovery but that didn’t recognize the drive either. Is there something in DOS?

Thanks
