Claris Works problem in Windows XP

Ok here is my problem, I have windows xp and claris works and I can open the first Claris works file no problem however when I go to open a second file it will not open I have to exit the program and run it again. What could be happening.

While opening; File > Open when I first load the program I am able to open a document file by going through the menu however when doing the same procedure for the second document when the open file dialogue box appears there are no files listed and on the bottom Files of type is blank and there is nothing in the drop down menu, Is there a work around for this ? Please Help
