CMI SOUND CARD (CAN’T CONFIGURE)

I am trying to configure a cmi8738 pci sound card 4 channel in a couple of different machines with no success.I have done everything by the book.
Went to the cmedia site and tried both sets of drivers.I load everything and when i reboot i get the error message “exception error in oe at 0028-c000b28a in vxd-vmm+0000a28a”.I know this is something to with virtual memory.Any suggestions?
