(Com1) Port Preventing Stand By Mode

Hello all,
I am recieveing an error on one of the laptops here at work. The error is when the computer tries to enter stand-by mode. The error is as follows: “The device driver for the communication port (COM1) device is preventing the machine from entering stand-by. Please close all applications and try again. If the problem presists, you may need to update this driver”. I have the most up to date driver. I have disabled the COM1 port in order to see if it will work. It will now give meanother error. It is basically the same as the first error, but it specifies the modem instead of the com port. I have tried to repair windows (as instructed by Dell). and I have searched for updates on the drivers. Nothing has worked. PLEASE HELP!!!
