Company merger – NT4 and 2000

Hi,
Where I work , we have a NT4 network with 2 NT domains (2-way trust). Our company is merging with another company with a native Win 2000 AD network. What are our options of establishing a trust to communicate and share resources until my side can upgrade to 2000. Ultimately we will want to be under the same forest with 2 trees because their are 2 registered domains.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.
