Compaq Presario V2000 No Display on LCD on start up

I wanted to check if my laptop had an extra slot for the Memory RAM beneath the already existing RAM which was shown on opening the case.
After confirming the second slot i replaced the first slot with the same RAM and switched on the system to see that there was no display. there were 4 beeps after i switched it on. can someone help me with this.
