compatibility of Foxpro 2.6 dos-based

Can I migrate or whatever some programs written in Foxpro 2.6 Dos to some graphics-based version like Access…without changing the programs very much or do they all have to be rewritten…..this is a Foxpro 2.6 question====if I have a peer to peer network, do I have to lock the file when I am appending a new record or just when both computers may be trying to change the same record??
