Compuserve conflicting with IE 5.5

Hey everyone! A friend of mine is running Windows 98 and uses IE 5.5 with Compuserve sign in (ISP). She is getting “kernal32” error messages right when she opens IE 5.5 and already logged on to her ISP. Any suggestions??? Would you think visiting “Windows Update” would lead her in the right direction or is it a Winsock problem?
