Computer does not boot up right

ok a friends computer was working when brother sent or so he says, when it boots up it says disk boot failure insert system disk and enter put in system boot disk and it doesnt work well goes to a prompt cannot change to c prompt tried cd c:\windowsdidnt work says invalid directory however in cmos its set to boot c: , then a: more details if needed email me can give you more win 95
