computer doesn’t pick up my dvd burner

Sometimes the computer doesn’t pick up my dvd burner. When I click on My Computer, I see my floppy disk, my dvd rom, my hard disk but my dvd burner cannot be seen. I have to restart the computer, sometimes a lot a times, until the computer pick ups all the drives.
What can I do to get rid of that problem?
