Computer keeps restarting….

Hi,

i had a motherboard die on a client’s computer so I replaced it for a new one. It is not identical to one that was in it. When I try to start XP up, it gets to the part where the XP logo screen should appear and starts to reboot. It keeps going around in circles.

Is this because XP does not recognize the new board. It was an OEM setup initially. If I do a repair, will this work? My client has work on the hdd that they don’t want to lose.
