Hello all,
I hope someone can help me out with this. I have a pretty powerful workstation that seems to operate fine for the most-part of the day but towards the end of the day Outlook slows down and randomly closes. Attachments take a lot longer to open than they should. A small ~200Kb Excel file can take as long as a few minutes to open. I realize that there are a few hundred e-mails that go through this system every day. Many of them get deleted but we still need to know how to manage the system with so much data passing through it.
This is a Pentium 4/630 (3.0GHz 2MB Cache) with 2GB DDR2 RAM on an ASUS P5LD2-VM Motherboard with a 128MB PCIe video card, DVD-RW & 160GB IDE Hard drive with a 350W power supply. We’re running Windows XP SP2 with Outlook 2003 (SP3 I believe). The system is less than 2 years old however it is still considered comfortable by today’s standards.
I recently formatted the hard drive and did a fresh install but this problem still seems to be present, or it has re-occured. I also upgraded the RAM from 512MB to 1.5GB and then to 2GB.
I realize that this is not so clear and cut, but please help me narrow this down.
Thank You!!
