Computer won’t boot from hard drive after windows formats a partition

Just bought a brand new seagate 320GB hard drive, and popped in the dell xp restoration cd

never had a problem like this before with the disk, so i’ve figured its the hard drive

after windows formats the new partition, it reboots, like it normally should.

and instead of booting off the hdd like it then should, it continues to try to boot off the cdrom, even if i change the order in the BIOS

i’m guessing the BIOS isn’t recognizing my hdd, even though windows can see the partition clearly

help?
