configure two nic cards

I’m trying to setup two nic cards on my windows 2000 server. One of my nic cards, the cable goes to my links router and a cable goes from the router to my cable modem.
I want to be able to use the second nic, cable go to my wall jack that goes to a switch that will provide network connection for all my other machines. I want step by step instructions.
