Configuring 3com Switches using console

Is there anybody know how to configure 3com Swithes using only Modem Cable(the one with 25 pin to 9 pin use for modem). My friend told me that it’s possible to configure it using modem cable in the absence of the null cable. I am using Windows NT 4 as the client.
