Configuring Windows/Office XP

Just got a brand new Toshiba laptop running WinXP and Office XP. I joined my domain and installed printers. The next time I rebooted and logged on to the machine using a regular (non-admin) username, I got this error message: “IVPSvMgr Failed to update the system registry. Please try using REGEDIT.” What is the IVPSvMgr and how do I begin to edit the registry without any additional information? Please advice!!!!
