I am having problems with my connection to my cable modem. My PC Link lights on my modem will periodically go off about every 30 seconds or minute for approximately 15 seconds and then come back on. This issue is not allowing me to establish a permanent connection to listen to live broadcast or anything that requires a permanent connection.
On my modem, I am getting steady green lights for Power Modem, Cable modem status, PC Link status and orange lights for PC link activity and cable activity. The two lights that periodically go out are under the PC Link (status and activity). I am able to connect to the web, the issue causes me to have to wait until the lights stay on before I hit search or enter, otherwise, I will get a “Page cannot be found” message because the search will time out when the lights are out.
I have called my cable provider and asked them to ping my modem and they are able to see the modem and the connection is good and we identified the problem to be the link from the PC to the modem. Support had asked if I had Kazaa on my computer which I do and stated that a background program may be causing this problem. He suggested to download Ad-aware software to see if this solves the problem and it hasn’t.
Does anyone know what the problem is or what other avenues I can try to get my PC connection to how it should be?
