I have an NT4 workstation (SP6a) to which I have been applying a shedload of hotfixes recently. The thing is that now, each time I boot the thing, it insists on runnnig Autochk on the C: drive (FAT).
It never finds any errors and, when finished, continues to load NT4 as normal. I’ve done manual scans of the disk but again found nothing. The disk is reported as being ‘clean’, i.e. no dirty bit has been set. So why the scans…?
I don’t want to change the registry and turn this check off in case it is genuinely needed someday.
Is this problem being caused by a program failing to shutdown properly each time? If so, how do I find out which one?
All suggestions will be gratefully recieved.
