Constant Hard Disk Access

Hi,

I have just finished reformatting my hard drive in my PC. My system had slowed to a crawl and I do not have the knowledge to figure out easier fixes.
I have Diskeeper 2007 Home installed on the PC and use it after all software installs etc. to keep on top of fragmentation. I use a Maxtor One Touch external HDD for backup with Retrospect software. I noticed yesterday that the external Maxtor was constantly being accessed. The drive “clicking” was quite audible. The drive is used only as a backup, there are no other files stored on it. This never happened prior to formatting the main HDD. BTW, I was well into filling the internal HDD before I realised it was now named j:\ and not c:\.
