Constant Registry problems

We own a lot of Compaq Deskpro computers, and a constant problem we are having is with the registry. Nearly every PC in the office has had the ‘restore from backup problem’ at one time or another. It can happen at any time whilst windows is running
Could any one give me advise on how to permanently fix this error
