contoling start up group applcations

In the last 9 months or so I read an article in Tech Republic that basically described a method to control how fast apps started in the Start Up group. I emailed that article to my home account and due to a hard drive failure I lost it.

So I am writing today to see if the few things I remember about this article might generate someone?s memory of some key words to search for in this article. I have tried to search on “start up, controlling start up, start up group” and several other versions.
