Control Panel

Whenever I try to access the Control Panel,I get the error message (Win98) “An error occured while windows was working with the Control Panel file c:\windows\system\main.cpl”. Noneheless, Control Panel then opens, but I’m concerned that something’s wrong. Can you help?
