Control Panel not responding

I’ve got an HP/Compaq nx9110 laptop that seems to be working fine except for one problem. Not always, but usually when control panel is opened it freezes and I have to “End Task” to get out of it.
I’ve tried running a system restore back to when I originally configured it and I’ve also updated the bios. I don’t see any unusual programs running in the background.

Anyone have any ideas?
