Copy documents folder off HDD as Slave

I have a pc running xp home. I had a failed xp sp2 install and cannot boot normally or safe mode. I cannot un-install it. I connected the hdd to another pc as a master on ide 2 and tried to copy the my docs folder. I can copy 3 other users but not mine. Iit says access denied. I have blanked out the password but still cannot get access.
