For the purposes of my several websites, I regularly lift photos from the internet — mostly newspapers — by the simple procedure of “right-click — save image as.”
However I find I can not usually copy photos from reference CD-ROMs. When I right-click, either nothing happens at all, or I am given the option “copy.” However when I then attempt to transfer the image, “paste” is blanked out and nothing happens.
Now I understand that software manufacturers do this to protect their copyright images.
If anyone knows a way to trick the blocking tactic, I would be extremely grateful.
However quite apart from that, would it be possible to explain to me how the software is able to block the copying process?
I know nothing at all about programming, so an explanation for the laymen would be required.
