When I boot-up a computer I get this error:
Windows could not start because the following file is missing or corrupt: \Windows\system32\config\system” You can attempt to repair this file by starting Windows Starup using the original Setup CD-Rom. Select ‘R’ at the first screen to start repair.
I tried to do the repair using the XP Cd but it doesn’t seem to see the harddrive. I connected the problem harddrive to a good system and set it up as slave harddrive. And it comes up as F: drive and I can view the files no problem. While it was connected as a slave drive I tried to do a CHKDSK /R in the command prompt. It finished the CHKDSK successfully. BUT when I tried to put back the system it comes up with the same error about the corrupt file.
Please help!
